Children's Ministries

Jesus said: “Let the little children come unto me.”  We believe children are an integral part of our faith community.  Our Children’s Ministry programs provide many opportunities for study, worship, fellowship, and mission for children and their families from birth through Grade 6.

It is our prayer that Heritage Children’s Ministry programs will help our children and families to learn about God’s love and plan for us through study and scripture; experience God’s grace and joy in worship; build lasting friendships and have fun through fellowship opportunities; and share God’s message and compassion through mission projects.

All of our programs are enhanced by volunteers.  Our leaders and teachers are faithful men, women, and teens that are joyful to share their love of the Lord with our children

Sundays 8:45 – 11:30 am

Heritage provides excellent nursery care for infants and toddlers through the age of 2 years. Ali Spaeth and volunteers provide our little ones a safe, secure and loving environment. Nursery care is also provided, as needed, during Church events.

Wee Worship

Sundays during 10:15am worship

Children ages 3 through kindergarten meet in the Sanctuary for worship, and then are dismissed after the Children's Message to participate in Wee Worship. The children continue their worship with age-appropriate activities, as they hear Bible stories, pray, play games, create crafts, sing songs and learn of God's love for them.

Children In Worship Workshops

Sundays Monthly 9:00 – 10:00 am

Once a month, our 1st and 2nd graders learn more about being young worshippers. Together, children and their parents will explore the parts of worship, communion, learn about prayer and serving as acolytes, and other lessons as they learn how to worship and praise God.

Sunday School

Sundays 9:00 – 10:00 am

Heritage Sunday school is available for all ages, preschool through adult, and is a cornerstone of opportunity to nurture the development of faith in Jesus Christ. We Believe and Growing in Grace and Gratitude curriculum, developed by PC(USA), is used to help our children to develop an understanding and awareness of scripture. The children are grouped into graded class levels. Fantastic faithful teachers, interactive activities, and fun lessons help our children to learn of God's love.

Preschoolers/Kindergarteners meet in Room 9

1st and 2nd Graders meet in room 26

3rd and 4th Graders meet in room 20/21

5th and 6th Graders meet in room 10

Moments for Mission

Throughout the year, Heritage children have the opportunity to learn about mission, and to serve God by helping others. Some of our recent mission experiences have helped to provide supplies to children in Avondale and Carmel Presbyterian Church, families at the Ronald McDonald House in Cincinnati, and Hunter’s Hope in Mason.  Our children have participated in the “Souper Bowl of Caring” to support the Mason Food Pantry.  In our mission experiences, we remember Jesus’ teaching from Matthew 25:40 , “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

Mid Week Education

Kids of the Kingdom

Wednesdays  5:00 – 7:15 pm (October - May)

Kids of the Kingdom… come on down, and you’ll have a great time!  Children in grades K – 3 enjoy fellowship and fun during this mid-week after school program.  The children enjoy games and activities, crafts, choir, hand chimes and dinner. Each time we gather, the children learn about a different scripture and Christian value to use during the week. Our children help to lead in worship regularly by singing in the choir and ringing hand chimes.  We have a great time – come and be part of the Kids of the Kingdom.

Sundays 4:30pm - 6:30pm (October - May)

‘Tweens are in between everything – 4th, 5th and 6th graders exploring that uncharted territory between childhood and the teenage years.  With energetic and interactive activities, our ‘Tween ministry programs enable youth to grow in their friendships and faith through fellowship time, service projects, and trips designed to help them live as disciples of Christ.

Vacation Bible School

VBS is always a great time of excitement, fun, and enthusiastic learning!  Each year we take nightly visits to another place and time, as we explore Bible Stories, scripture and God’s message through drama, crafts, games, snacks, and music.  VBS at Heritage brings out the child in all of us!
