JOURNEY TO BETHLEHEM

Sunday, Demember 8th 5:00 – 8:00pm

SOUP MAKERS We are looking for people to donate a crock pot of soup for the Journey to Bethlehem.  We need plenty to feed everyone coming to Bethlehem for the census! DONATIONS: Food donations include apples, grapes, dried fruits, nuts, olives, spices, artisan breads and rolls. Decorating items include simple/rustic items to create the atmosphere of Bethlehem: rugs, baskets, pottery. All decorating items will be returned to you.

DECORATORS/SETUP CREW We will be transforming our building into the city of Bethlehem on Saturday, December 7th between 9am and 1pm

CRAFTERS: Help is needed in advance to prepare materials, AND on the evening of the journey.

PUBLICITY: Everyone! Invite friends, neighbors, and family to experience an evening of learning and fellowship as we celebrate the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Send a post card, forward an email, or share a Facebook post with so we can get the word out about Journey to Bethlehem. You can even go "old school" and invite a neighbor face to face.

O Come, Let Us Adore Him!

A new addition to Journey to Bethlehem this year will be a display of nativity sets from members of our congregation. If you have a nativity set that you would be willing to display during the Journey to Bethlehem, please let us know at susie.faas@hpcmason.org. It will be a blessing to our guests to imagine the events of the Holy Night, through the art work of different nativity sets.

Parents Night Out - Drive-In Movie Night

SAVE the DATE

December 14

4:30 – 7:00pm

All HPC children, up through the 6th grade, are invited for an evening of fun, as their parents have a Date Night! Child care, dinner, and activities will be provided by Pastor Kelsey, Mrs. Faas, and the youth. Children are asked to bring a cardboard box, large enough for them to fit in, so they can create their own "car". We will have games, dinner, fun, and then get into our "cars" to watch a movie. Please sign up in the Atrium or susie.faas@hpcmason.org to attend or to help.

Advent Preparation at Home

As you prepare for the coming of the Christ child, consider folding an Advent practice into your faith formation disciplines.

  • Prepare an Advent wreath at home. Select a weekly time to light the candles and have personal or family devotions.
  • A set of activity cards, specific to Heritage, is available in the Atrium. The cards outline the weekly lectionary scripture readings; suggestions of weekly advent family activities; a schedule of weekly
  • events and service opportunities sponsored by Heritage; and information about familiar Christmas traditions and symbols.
  • Printed devotional resources are available in the Atrium. Two styles are available. An Illustrated Advent for Families is a resource that offers families 4 weekly reflections and pondering questions. It also provides a shadow box craft that can be created as a family, and used to inspire conversation. Finally, there is an Advent calendar with daily activities that help families engage in Advent through the topic of Light and Darkness. A separate Illustrated Devotional provides weekly scripture, journaling questions, and an illustration to color.
